Today’s Quick Entertainment Notes

🎥 On Friday it was announced that Atlanta is one of six finalists in the bid to host the Sundance Film Festival. The energy around Atlanta and beyond has been incredible as even Athens and Savannah officials have echoed their support for the city. Georgians should be proud that we had three communities in contention for what has been reputed as a stringent and competitive review by Sundance.

The local rallying and collaborative effort to prepare these bids will pay off dividends no matter what. From an incentive perspective, it will be interesting to see how the state engages in the process, now that only Atlanta is being considered. Georgia is already a winner in this process. See more.

♥️ Columbus was buzzing on the streets and socials last week as production started for ‘The Razor’s Edge.’ James Franco and Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones are leading the action thriller from producer Corey Large and filmmaker Demian Lichtenstein. In our First Look series, we have exclusive behind the scenes images and video. More.

🏝 We will be on Georgia’s coast this week meeting with partners and attending the Savannah Film Alliance meeting on July 25th at Savannah Tech followed by the Coastal Entertainment Alliance social. Reach out if you plan to attend these events or wish to connect.

⏱ Don’t miss the Macon Unscripted Roadshow on August 15th. Space at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame is limited so please RSVP early if you plan to attend. RSVP today!

I love the promise of more unbridled creation of film in Atlanta, and I am especially interested in following the Sora story. I will be doing as deep a dive as I can into this new technology because the possibilities are fascinating to me and I’m sure to all. Thank you for introducing it here.
