This is probably the most mind boggling subject discussed here as the documents come from the CIA’s official website.

In 1983, Itzhak Bentov, an Israeli-American engineer in biomedicine, and Colonel Wayne M. McDonnell, a U.S. Army Lieutenant produced a 28 page CIA classified document assessing the Monroe Institute Gateway Program that was declassified in 2003. It stayed buried under the infinite amount of content available on the Internet.

In February 2019, almost 40 years after the document was produced and 20 years after its declassification, this whole psyspy operation (sorry I couldn’t resist) was going to take an unexpected turn when the story became viral on TikTok, gaining the attention of Thobey Campion, the founder of Motherboard, Vice’s technology channel.

He noticed that page 25, which should be numbered page 27 on the CIA document due to two introduction pages at the beginning of the report, was missing. You can see that the content is missing by reading the end of page 26 and the beginning of page 27.

After initially denying him access to the 25th page, in April 2019, a few weeks after he published his article, the Monroe Institute contacted Tobey Campion and sent him the full version of the document including page 25.

The protocol has since been optimized and used in two peer reviewed studies. The following links are the recent publication done in PNAS by the scientists of The Imperial College in London and in Nature by the scientists of the University Hospital Basel in Switzerland.

They evaluate the validity of the protocol to induce a stable modified state of consciousness but not the nature of it, so you may want to pass this if you’re not a pharmacology freak lab.
