Thrilled!!

Dear colleagues and friends:

Today marks my 19th year in the United States of America, and there's no better way to celebrate this amazing milestone than being named the LifePoint Health HSC 2020 Mercy Award winner - God is awesome, indeed!

With that being said, I dedicate this award to my parents and (2) siblings who are no longer here with us (my mother died of Bilharzia in 1985, my younger and my father died at the same time in 1989, and my elder sister was bitten by her brother-in-law and she died as a result, in 2006), and my sister Kuer Reng (who’s the second living member of our family and lives in a refugee camp in Uganda with her blind husband and four kids).

Further, I dedicate this Award to all the kind and generous Americans who welcomed me when I first arrived in the U.S., embraced and taught me how to be successful in this great country of ours. Among them are Renee James, Mullah Nkrumah, and Muhammed Salim from Catholic Charities (Dallas, TX); Pastor Sharon Hare and Michelle of Mariah Olivet Presbyterian Church (Utica, NY); and all my professors and academic advisors at the University of Texas at Dallas, Middle Tennessee State University, LeTourneau University, and Liberty University.

To conclude, I’m grateful to my colleagues, supervisor (Sandi Hyde for her kind guidance and mentorship), and LifePoint Family for their love, generosity, and fervent support – I’m honored and blessed!

By the same token, I’m grateful to my beautiful wife Angeth Deng for her unwavering support.

Take-home message: We must all be John the Baptists for those who are coming after us; we must always strive to leave behind a better world for them, no matter what our circumstances might be.

Important Bible Verses:

“To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.” (Proverbs 21:3, NIV)

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” (Col 3:23-24, NIV)

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matt 6:33, NIV)

Thank you all! Stay safe and healthy.
