Ten Tips to Improve Your English

Just because I care A LOT about you, I’m here today to share with you 10 tips that will help you improve your English (or any other language). ⁣

1) Conversation!!! If you want to better your English, you have to talk. You’ll only improve your speaking skills by speaking. There’s no other way! ⁣

2) Study hard! If you’re not a child living in the US or in the UK, there are a few things you actually have to STUDY. Language requires a lot of repetition, a lot of reference experiences, and a consistent commitment and investment. ⁣

3) Buy a good dictionary! You might be wondering, ‘why should I buy a dictionary if I have Google?’ well, a good dictionary ⁣will help you with spelling, pronunciation, grammar, word families, prepositions, phrasal verbs, idioms, collocations and more! I have a collection of awesome dictionaries in my library, and they are way better than Google. Trust me!⁣

4) Try to learn new words every single day. ⁣Start with the 100 most common words and then make sentences with them over and over again. Don’t worry much about grammar at the beginning. Make simple sentences using the verb to be and the simple tenses. When you get more familiar with these tenses, try something a bit more advanced. ⁣

5) Study Pronunciation! It’s frustrating when you talk to people and they keep asking you to repeat everything you said. Also, when you improve your pronunciation, you start understanding people better. You immediately improve your listening skills. ⁣

6) Take good online courses or hire qualified teachers to guide you through the process. ⁣If you have the money, grabbing a solid tutor and sitting with him or her for a few hours every day is the fastest way to learn a new language. ⁣

7) Watch lots of American/British/Canadian... TV shows (try to shadow the actors) and listen to music in English. It’s gonna be great for your listening and pronunciation, but it does not replace conversation. Don’t confuse the things, okay? ⁣

8) Immerse yourself in English. Why do you use your Instagram in your native language? Change it to English right now! And the same applies to all the other social media platforms you’re on. Don’t miss a chance to use English on a daily basis. ⁣

9) Use your imagination! Challenge yourself to think in English. Create dialogs in your head. Imagine you’re going to a diner in the US, and make up the whole conversation between you and the server in your head. Why not??? You can even practice the conversations you’re likely to have before you actually have them! 😅

⁣10) And last but definitely not least: you'll make a lot of mistakes and say tons of stupid things. Who cares?

⚠️ And now I have a QUESTION for YOU: From my list, what things can you start doing TODAY?

Nice tips, Ivan Crespo!!! There is one more thing I usually do to improve my english: to watch movies with legend in english and original audio. That's help me to hear and see the words the actors are using the dialogue and understand the context the words are used. :)
