TECH RECRUITER TALKS

TECH RECRUITER TALKS

Question of the month❔

As Halloween creeps closer and we start seeing pumpkins, bats, and ghosts around us, it’s hard not to think about how the word "ghost" has taken on a new meaning. Instead of just spooky spirits, it now makes us think of disappearing without a trace—even in the professional world.

Ghosting has become increasingly common, especially in the hiring process. Both candidates and recruiters experience it: candidates interview and never hear back, and recruiters reach out only to be met with silence.

What’s your take? Is ghosting ever justified? Does one side experience it worse than the other?

📊 👻 Half of U.S. job seekers (52%) have experienced ghosting during the interview process this year

...according to a Greenhouse survey. While 24% of ghosting happens early on, after the initial conversation with the recruiter, another 23% occurs after completing a final interview or accepting the job.

🗨️ Quote of the month🎙️

"If you put a candidate through SEVERAL interviews but don't move forward.

"You should be calling them to let them know.

"A rejection email or ghosting candidates is NOT acceptable.

"You should be letting the candidate know why they are not being selected.

"Candidates spend a lot of time preparing and interviewing.

"Let's respect their time and effort.

"Let's not forget that there is a human on the other side."
