Start and figure it out later

Since the death of my uncle and brother, it has been on my mind to create an initiative focused on Diabetes education and awareness through physical outreaches.

So many doubts came to my mind which delayed me from starting the initiative.

Doubts about how I would bring volunteers together, how I would raise funds, get hospitals to partner with amongst others.

Finally, I started PatrickJames Diabetes Initiative in March and its been a gradual process of figuring it out and taking it one step at a time.

One of the earliest challenges faced was assembling the right team of advisors and volunteers to guide the initiative.

We got an advisor who is a medical doctor and he brought lots of experience to the table and initially served as a valuable advisor.

However, as the initiative began to take shape, he left due to work taking too much of his time leading to him being unable to meet up with his duties at the initiative.

Asides this, we have had to face other challenges along the way.

All these experiences are a powerful reminder that the path to creating meaningful change is rarely smooth, but it is through perseverance, adaptability, and an unshakable commitment to one's values that true progress can be achieved, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges.

I have also learnt that the most important step to anything is to start; you will figure it out eventually.

We are proud of the little progress we have made so far and look forward to the ones ahead.

I hope to keep this dream alive through whatever storm.

We are in need of support in every way; we would appreciate your help in whatever way.

Together we can!
