PRCA Charity Communications Award February 2017

Stained glass, transparency & painting stories

I was thrilled and honoured to be awarded the prestigious PRCA 2017 Award for Clarity in Charity Communications last night, at the PRCA's glittering awards dinner in the historic Merchant Taylors' Hall in Threadneedle Street. My award should also go to all the tens of thousands of PR and creative professionals who have volunteered their time through Media Trust over the last 23 years since I first set up the charity. The PR and wider creative industries have unique power to give back to our communities and charities, and to change lives through sharing your brilliant skills, time and creativity.

As with the Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters of Glass, who supported this award, when you volunteer your skills as creative professionals you help promote transparency, you let in the light, you make visible what might otherwise be kept in darkness, and you paint powerful and often beautiful stories of impact and social change.

This simple premise of matching pr and creative volunteers with charities that need to communicate vital messages is what lies behind everything that Media Trust does. It's been a constant inspiration to see the impact that our volunteers continue to have, and if you are not already registered with Media Trust please do sign up now! There's no commitment, but if you want, you can look through a fantastic range of skilled volunteering opportunities, and we'll send you an update from time to time so that you don't forget us. Here's the link: www.mediatrust.org - do volunteer now!

Meanwhile I shall always treasure the unique and gorgeous stained glass award I was given last night - thank you so much Frances Ingham, Duncan Gee and your fellow judges. A wonderful honour and very special recognition.
