Sometimes You Just Have to Walk Away... Lessons from Failure, Part 6

This post is part of a series covering my main takeaways from Failure:Lab | Atlanta 2016. Others: Part 1Part 2, Part 3Part 4Part 5.

Stacey Osiecki, Co-Founder and former CEO of the innovative design platform, Parlore joined Failure:Lab | Atlanta in February 2016 to share an account of her quick rise and fall as a first-time entrepreneur. This emotionally-charged and gut-wrenching story is a tale of following passion, pouring everything into an idea, succeeding, succumbing to the addictive nature of success and eventually crossing over pre-determined borders and going to far.

In the end, Stacey had the strength to walk away from something that had defined her - to walk away from the "baby" she'd given everything to. She then had the strength to take the stage in front of hundreds of strangers and friends and talk about it. The big takeaway for me is that sometimes you need to have the courage to walk away, even if it means giving up on a dream - perhaps just temporarily.

"Sometimes You Just Have to Walk Away"

Failure:Lab | Atlanta is an annual event seeking to inspire people through the sharing of personal stories of failure. For updates on future events, follow Failure:Lab | Atlanta on Facebook and Twitter.

Failure:Lab is a raw and intimate evening showcasing personal stories of failure. With a refreshing environment of openness, it helps pave the way for change by crushing the isolation and stigma around failure. Failure then takes its rightful place as the crucial first step to the next big thing. Embrace it, learn from it, build on it. Learn more.
