Social audiences really want to be part of the TV experience!
Not something you see everyday, a Christmas Tree with Screens!

Social audiences really want to be part of the TV experience!

I thought I would share an interesting project we are working on this week with ITV's This Morning and Pete Lane from Kenziko. We have been helping ITV to engage with their social audience live for a while now but this was a really interesting twist..

Anyone who has been on the Southbank of London outside the ITV studio's will have noticed a huge Christmas Tree with giant screens displaying viewers’ #TMTreeSelfie photos. The simple idea is that people share their picture for a chance to appear on the tree and for some on TV. What started out as a bit of fun quickly snowballed with thousands of people sharing their selfies across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Such was the demand for people to see themselves on the screens, a Facebook live stream was quickly set up to stream the tree's screen live. As I write, over 200,000 people have watched either the live stream or the video on demand version to see if they’ve made it!

ITV Daytime have understood how they can activate their social audience, involve them in their live broadcasts and retain them for longer with a simple call-to-action.

Kenziko and never.no are providing the technologies for social moderation, delivery and live graphics display, with the This Morning team using our solution to manage the project live.
