SIGGRAPH 2018

SIGGRAPH 2018

What’s SIGGRAPH you ask?

SIGGRAPH is the world’s leading gathering of creative techies. The event is designed to showcase the latest in computer graphics and interactive techniques. AKA if your job or hobby revolves around graphics technology, SIGGRAPH was the place to be last week. A place where you could refine your craft and stay up-to-date on cutting-edge technologies and techniques.

More than 16,500 people from all over the world attended, including the United States, China, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and 87 other countries.

Campbell River’s Economic Development team had the privilege of joining with Campbell River Creative Industries Council to host a booth at the 2018 SIGGRAPH conference in Vancouver last week.

The SIGGRAPH exhibition had 160 booths showcasing the latest in technologies, products and services. Campbell River’s booth honed in on the city’s remarkable lifestyle and spoke to our ‘open for business’ attitude. Our booth was set up as a campsite scene with a campfire, picnic table and chairs and two beautiful Eiko Jones photos as a back drop.

Did it work? We had the many attendees stop by our booth crediting us for a creative display and acknowledging the booth set us apart from the rest of the tradeshow. We invited people to join us around our campfire giving us an opportunity to talk about the attributes that make Campbell River a place where you can truly love where you work and play.

It's a great friendly, location for movie-of-the-week shoots. Lots of accommodations, parking, catering, airport, and waterfront.

Glad to see Campbell River at events such as this.  Well done on your display!  Great way to engage with companies who many be looking for a new place to call home.
