Reducetarianism - the new food revolution

On 28th – 30th September 2018 I had the privilege to attend the second annual Reducetarian Summit in Los Angeles. The goal of the event was to explore various strategies and tactics for reducing the amount of meat and other animal products we consume, as well as to end factory farming. It was a fantastic chance for all of us involved to exchange knowledge and experiences to learn more about how we can protect our planet and the environment.

In light of the recent IPCC warning, as well as the striking Nature report I touched upon in my recent post, I believe that there is no time to waste in joining the mission to save our planet. Flexitarianism and reducetarianism are two fantastic, easy and approachable ways in which each one of us can make a real difference.

The good news is that the food revolution is already upon us – and the future of food looks bright.

As increasing amounts of people decide to either completely abandon, or significantly reduce, the animal-based products in their diets, plant-based nutrition is more popular than ever. I strongly believe that in order to achieve this significant change on a global scale, we need to work to normalise and popularise vegan food, encouraging people to try meat-free meal alternatives.

The time is running low, as we are moving towards the pressing societal need. Let’s reconsider what we can do for the future generations.

To find out more about the trend of reducetarianism, it's worth taking a look at the recent Independent article on the topic.
