Rahil’s Reflections on Strategic Thinking & Personal Branding
When it comes to describing my journey throughout Agent Academy, I’m reminded how fun, interesting, and how inspiring it has been. One of the main reasons why is because of the industry experts who hosted sessions with us throughout the programme. Hearing all their advice and backstories was inspiring, as it showed me that anything is achievable, and you can accomplish anything if you put the hard work and effort in.
Today, I’d like to highlight two sessions that spoke to me – strategic thinking and personal branding.
Strategic Thinking
Lizzie Wood, Associate Director at Fourth Day PR & Content, an international PR and Content agency, brought over 11 years of industry experience to our session on strategic thinking. Her valuable advice not only enhanced our approach to the client brief but also offered guidance on breaking into the industry.
Lizzie emphasised the importance of asking questions and challenging obstacles to understand a company's goals and the impact on both the business and the consumer. As someone who thrives on strategic thinking, this session was pivotal, providing practical insights into applying strategic thought to client briefs and pursuing a strategic role.
Personal Branding
Isobel Cowell, from Kurogo (who came all the way from Birmingham to speak to us!), illuminated the concept of personal branding.
As Isobel explained, personal branding is about how you present yourself online and how others perceive you. The session introduced me to new and valuable information, prompting me to consider my personal branding on social media. Isobel's step-by-step guidance on starting and navigating personal branding was particularly enlightening. Before this session, I hadn't given much thought to personal branding, but now I have a clear understanding of its significance, how to initiate the process, and how it aligns with my goals.
Both sessions not only gave us some really valuable insights but also allowed us to learn more about the speakers' journeys. Sharing this knowledge feels personal and important, especially for those navigating challenges with personal branding and strategic thinking.
