Quality Over Quantity - To Get Hired

Quality Over Quantity - To Get Hired

Quality over Quantity - When it comes to job searching

We have all heard the expression, "We all have the same 24 hours in a day, its how you use them that counts"

This has never been truer, then when it comes to Job Searching.

People spend anywhere from 5-11 hours a week searching for a job and applying on line, with people exceeding 20 applications per week.

This tactic is very typical and interestingly, people that apply to the most jobs in a week, actually spend the least amount of time dedicated to actual Job searching, as they largely just hit "Easy Apply" whilst cooking dinner, or watching Netflix!

These people will also be the ones that don't have a fully complete LinkedIn profile and moan about Recruiters not coming back to them, or are fed up of aimlessly applying to jobs online, only to be GHOSTED by anyone and everyone.

Well, enough is enough and its time to STOP the Groundhog Day cycle and to wake up and realise that its all about the initial investment, that will yield better results, so, QUALITY OVER QUANTITY......Focus on the front end and the ROI, Return on Investment will be far greater.

So what does this mean and how do we do this?

Well, its simple!

Start by ensuring your resume and LinkedIn are as good as they can be and if you dont know how to do this, follow The Hub & Tom Wood for tips and guidance on how to do this.

Once your tools are ready, start researching companies that align to your core beliefs, interests, field of expertise, principles and ethics, to ensure there is alignment.

You will start with a large pool of potential companies, which will be reduced by industry, sector and then by Mission Statement, Culture etc etc...

You want to have no more than Ten target companies.

Once you have them, you start doing a deeper dive into the company, what they stand for, what they do, their people, who they recruit and where from, their culture and personal side, development, strategy etc etc and you use this in your pitch as to why you want to work for them!

You can also start to mirror your LinkedIn and Resume in line with their current employees, to ensure you appear like a good fit.

Its then about the approach, which I firmly believe is best suited from a Proactive standpoint, rather than Reactive.

So dont even look for advertised jobs, just start targeting senior people and connect and pitch either verbally via a video, or via message or email, perhaps target 5 senior people in the business and present your self as a solution to a perceived problem.

Remember selling isn't selling, if you are fixing a problem!

To do this effectively, you have to present yourself, your Resume and your LinkedIn with TANGIBLE RESULTS, not just JOB Functions.

Show the value you bring, present the fix, the solution you can present!

Again, if you dont know how to do this, message Tom Wood

If you spend an hour every day doing this and tracking and following up to say 5 companies a week, I guarantee you will see better results, than spamming the market with generic EASY APPLY APPLICATIONS.

Think about QUALITY OVER QUANTITY & ROI

Return On Investment
