⚡ Q4 Power Push: 3 Innovation Igniters 🔥

Welcome back from the summer break! As your innovation team gets back into the groove, the final quarter of the year is almost here — a critical period that will define your 2024 innovation success. With fresh perspectives and renewed energy, now is the time to make a new push to finish strong. Here’s how your team gets ready to crush the final three months of 2024.

1. Evaluate Progress to Date 📝

Coming back after the summer, you have a valuable opportunity to reflect with fresh eyes. Before diving into daily tasks, take a step back. Revisit the goals you set earlier this year: What’s on track? What needs adjustment? Identify what worked and what didn’t, and understand why. Having a well-tested and effective Workshop structure is key. For inspiration, check out the structure of the intrapreneurship strategy workshop by Inno-Pact Consulting. I am sure with the clarity you obtained here you cannot wait to make some changes.

2. Readjust Goals and Activities 🎯

In agile environments, regular check-ins and adjustments are key to staying aligned with your objectives. With the clock ticking, it’s vital to revisit your goals and refine your action plan. Based on your assessment, revisit your current budget, resources, and timelines. Remember, changes like this are not only tolerated - they are expected. If you have not veered off the path in some aspects after 8 months, you are probably not moving fast enough. If you are looking for a great strategic overview of innovation initiatives and how you might reshuffle them, check out the Innovation Menu. Providing your team with a clear and updated roadmap will keep everyone focused and motivated. But to truly maximize your impact, it’s not just about internal alignment; it’s also about solidifying relationships outside of your team.

3. Communicate with Stakeholders 🤝

Innovation thrives on collaboration, not isolation. While your team may be crystal clear on the direction, other stakeholders often are not. In my experience, many of the challenges and frustrations in innovation management stem from communication that is either delayed or ineffective. That’s why proactive communication is essential. It is also something that is easily getting overlooked in good times, just to me jump-started when sh*t hits the fan. It is therefore good practice to make proactive communication a habit of yourself and your team. Among your various stakeholder groups, your internal stakeholders should be your priority right now. Keep them in the loop about your progress, challenges, and plans. It requires minimal effort but can secure crucial support and potentially spark new joint initiatives before the year ends. Crucially, it’s also a valuable opportunity for you to understand their challenges and expectations.
