Podfather, celebrating customer satisfaction in 2024
Here at Podfather we have something to celebrate. 2024 saw us deliver our best sales performance in our 24 year history. We now have over 200 customers and more than 70,000+ users who rely on our planning, optimisation and ePOD solution every day. By working together we are helping logistics operators reduce costs, cut carbon emissions, eradicate paper from their operations and improve customer experience. Let’s take a look at some of the customer successes we’ve publicly celebrated this year.
Success in the Food & Drink Sector
Podfather has a large number of customers operating in the food and drink sector where margins are often tight and many deliveries are time critical. Time and time again we have proven that our solution is a great fit for foodservice companies, with our reliable route plans and efficient ePOD solution helping companies accelerate business growth, streamline operational processes and deliver great customer service.
One of our newer foodservice customers is Mason Foodservices who has implemented Podfather’s logistics software to automate delivery planning and reporting as it prepares to celebrate 80 years in business. A family run food wholesaler, Mason Foodservices has recently seen a period of expansion and innovation both in its product offering and customer experience. With the support of Podfather’s planning, route optimisation and ePOD software, it hopes to underpin these, and future developments, with a move to paperless working, operational efficiency gains and customer service improvements.
“As the business has expanded, we realised we needed to address some of our potentially outdated working practices,” comments Emma Draper, Office Manager at Mason Foodservices. “Using Podfather we are transitioning many of our processes and workflows to paper free, we are improving the efficiency with which we plan and execute our delivery schedules, and we are boosting customer service with automatically generated and updated ETA notifications and real-time ePOD reporting.”
Other food customer successes you can read about include: Braehead Foods, S&W Wholesale, JW Filshill, Run it Cool, Simply Lunch, Roddas, and Smith & Brock.
Celebrating growth in the building materials market
The building materials sector is diverse in nature with companies transporting a wide range of items to construction sites, retail outlets and homes all over the country. Recently we were delighted to have the chance to catch up with the team at Direct Window Supplies (DWS) who manufacture and supply windows and doors, making around 700 deliveries a month. DWS uses Podfather’s route planning & ePOD solution which is saving huge amounts of time and has also helped slashed mileage by over 8%.
“When we first started looking for a delivery solution it was imperative that any system we chose had to integrate with existing software used to manage sales and plan production,” comments Nick Trueman from DWS. “After undertaking considerable background research, including customer reviews, in use case studies, and online tutorials, I reached out to the Podfather team as while something may look and sound good on paper it’s the people behind it that take it to the next level. The Podfather team did not disappoint.”

Expanding our presence amongst construction logistics operators
Podfather has a long history of supporting construction logistics companies with load allocation and electronic ticketing. We work with many of the industry’s giants, including Tarmac, Breedon, Aggregate Industries and GRS. The benefits of using our electronic ticketing solution are well documented in this sector.
Recently we caught up with the team who are seeing the big benefits of using Podfather on it’s latest project. Andrews is using Podfather’s logistics software to manage the transport of materials to and from Junction 10 on the M25. Working for Balfour Beatty, Andrews is operating a dedicated fleet delivering aggregates and removing waste material from the site. Using the Podfather App, Andrews’ drivers access detailed load information, whilst real-time tracking provides total visibility for management teams from Andrews and Balfour Beatty. Drivers also use the Podfather app to capture evidence of loads collected and delivered.
Here’s what both parties have to say about Podfather:
“Podfather simplifies the management of a complex, fast moving and ever-changing schedule,” commented Tim Page, Transport Manager at Andrews Tipper Hire. “Using Podfather we have complete visibility of where our drivers are, what materials they are carrying, and where they are going. This information is available to our client’s on-site management team which means we, and they, can react as situations change and evolve.”
“The use of Podfather on this project was a contributing factor in our selection of Andrews as haulage partner,” added at Michael Ward, Logistics Coordinator at Balfour Beatty. “Digital ticketing, real-time visibility and enhanced reporting all make for a more efficient and more reactive operation.”
Other construction logistics customers successes you can read about include: Denis May, Aggregate Industries, CP Dynes and GRS Building Products.
So, who is Podfather?
Podfather is not ‘just’ a software solution, it is a dedicated team of 52 people, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Our story is an interesting one. What started almost 25 years ago as an idea to develop a solution that could tackle complex logistics problems has evolved into a core product offering that offers real ROI, fast. Our well-resourced software engineering team and clear, benefit-led product road map, reflects our intention to keep developing and delivering solutions that help logistics fleet operators improve efficiency, primarily through better route planning and the removal of paper-based processes with the introduction of ePOD.
