Petiole 5th Gen, salt stress resistance in crops, and many more

Hello there, it's Andrii with the latest newsletter for June. I want to give a big thank you to the 362 new members who have joined our Petiole Pro community this month. This newsletter is where you can find all the latest news and updates from our mobile app and blog.

1. Petiole 5th Generation in Early Preview

Insight from Linkedin

We are introducing Petiole 5G - Your Customizable Plant Trait Measurement Platform! It allows to create tailored models for unique crops, get accurate measurements, and explore leaf area analysis. To play with Petiole 5th Gen we recommend to update Petiole Pro now to access the early stage platform and unlock the power of live measurements and photo analysis for your plant research. Don't forget to print out the updated calibrating plate for our new Petiole Pro and place your leaf on it when making photo or measuring in real-time.

2. Sugarcane resistance against salt stress

Insight from Linkedin

Our mobile application Petiole Pro was honored to have been chosen as tool of choice to measure leaf area by a group of Bangladeshi scientists, when they used salicylic acid as a sett priming material, aiming to improve sugarcane's resilience against salt stress during its tender early stages.

The results of this study demonstrated marked improvement in germination rates, seedling vitality, and plant vigor, paired with a significant reduction in sodium ion accumulation - a key troublemaker in salt stress. In essence, this approach equips sugarcane with the defenses it needs to flourish, even in the face of high salinity, promising a big leap in yields.

3. Petiole Pro and Alfalfa Research

Insight from Linkedin

Petiole Pro has a long-term relationship with alfalfa - we are grateful for this to Kimberley Burton Hughes and her colleagues from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. They focus on breeding the most appropriate variety of alfalfa, considering climate change. The importance of alfalfa as a forage crop is undeniable, but its yield significantly declines in saline soils. While researchers have gained some understanding of plant salinity response, there's much more to discover.

Recently, they published in-depth research on alfalfa. Using various scientific methods, as well as using our mobile application Petiole Pro app for leaf area measurement they showed noticeable growth and photosynthetic reductions under saline conditions. More details about their research are available here.

4. Petiole Pro at Asep's Social Media

We were excited to discover an insightful TikTok and Youtube channels, created by talented Asep Rodiansah, who works as Junior Lecturer at Universitas Sumatera Utara, Indonesia.

Asep has created a series of video about our mobile application. Have a quick look and discover more on his channels! Also, we invite you to join our social media community, especially on LinkedIn as well as YoutubeInstagramTwitter and TikTok. If you have created any post about Petiole Pro - please, let us know and we will share your link with the thousands of our readers.

5. Petiole Pro Community in WhatsApp

Our agritech community is open for everyone who loves plants and digital technologies. Join our Petiole Pro Community on WhatsApp! We will send Petiole updates and tips, you will get agritech news. Petiole Pro: Germination Count

Are you involved in the number of germinated seedlings? Otherwise, perhaps you need to know the germination rate or any other characteristics? Please let us know if you are interested in this topic - we are working on this now so just replying to this email and we will give you more details.

Petiole Pro policy for Ukraine

The war in Ukraine continues… Ukraine is our motherland and we cannot say that life is fine until the peace will come to our Ukraine.

If you're a Ukrainian (or a russian scientist who is not supporting the war), please let us know and you can expect more support from us in your hard work now.

Petiole Pro: Be Listed With Us

We take great pride in continually discovering new names of esteemed scientists and their research organizations who utilize our mobile application for their research. If you have used our mobile app and are not on our esteemed list, please let us know. We are sure that currently list of 56 research papers can be improved :)

Also, we would like to ask you about help. Can you give us a rate on Google Play? This is crucially important because more scientists will be technically able to find Petiole Pro for their research. Thank you!

We read every reply.

Who's Petiole? We're a team of people who love plants.
