Our new 'City to Startup' meetup
Join us on Monday for our first City to Startup meetup. No ties needed!
"How can I get into startups?" is perhaps the most common email I receive from people working in consulting, financial services, and other corporate 'City' jobs. It's perhaps not surprising, given that one of our major theses at EF is that in Europe at least too many people who would make excellent founders get sucked into corporate jobs - especially financial and professional services - and never get out.
Our core programme is 100% focused on deep technology - but obviously we know that people with backgrounds in banking, consulting and other industries can add a huge amount of value to a startup. Particularly once the core technology or product is in place, having someone with exceptional commercial skills becomes invaluable.
To that end, we're starting a "City to Startup" meetup, to build a community of people in City-type jobs who want to get into startups but aren't sure where to start. At one end of the scale, it's just a way for likeminded people to meet and get to know each other - at the other, we hope that some of the members will join EF companies as late co-founders / early employees. It's already happened a couple of times through our network and we're delighted with the results.
If you'd like to get involved, please sign up for Monday's event. Matt Clifford (co-founder of EF) will be speaking, alongside Tushar Agarwal, former banker, EF alumnus and co-founder of Hubble. If you can't make it, but want to hear more drop me an email.
