One way to promote movement of money down the social ladder

One way to promote movement of money down the social ladder

When one is from a generation that grew up reading exploit's of Robin Hood and his merry men, a little fascination with stealing from the rich, giving to the poor, equal distribution of wealth and social inclusivity is understandable. For many of us, this famous english folk lore might be fresh in memory but the problem of unequal distribution of weath is definitely not new or short of brilliant idea's.

Today i thought i might suggest a remedy of my own, without claiming credit of course, as it lies somewhere else and look forward to your critique and consideration to confirm if my thought's hold any weight in your eyes.

So first, let's go back in time,a little bit to the time of prophet's.

It is quite likely, but in case you haven’t heard, several centuries back, God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son.

Abraham began to comply when by the will of God; a ram appeared in his son’s place and was sacrificed instead.  This event was an ultimate divine test of total trust, extraordinary faith in God and hold's key significance for all Abrahamic faith's.

Abraham passed the test with flying colors; a high distinction, if i may take that liberty- this is relevant to my argument so keep note.

Now fast-forward that event; some several hundred centurie's later- to 2022, this coming Sunday 10th of July; a few day's from now.

This day, over 1.8 billion Muslim's around the world will celebrate the culmination of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca by sacrificing goat's, cow's, sheep or camel's to commemorate that same age old spirit of sacrifice and total subservience to the will of God.

A three day festive event will ensue typically worth million's of dollar's in value, marked by public holiday, nation wide celebratory lights in streets, government building's and an all round mood of celebration and devout religious fervour.

I find this event to hold divine wisdom and definite potential as an economic catalyst to recalibrate the distribution of wealth between the rich and those who are not so fortunate.

Many skeptics might not agree with this in entirety and i understand their rationale, especially one that revolve's around unavailability of sufficient empirical data to support widespread sacrifice as source for equitable wealth distribution, persistent inequality even in the face of high level's of charitable spending and that classic one of ascertaining potential impact through sector wise percentage's against national gdp.

I do not deny their argument's, i accept them but in my mind there is no denying that this event is surely a clear step in the right direction and definitely faciliate's movement of money down the social fabric to grassroot level in society- and we all know it's there that it's needed most.

Do you know millions around the world, who are forced to live on a single meal a day, will sleep with a full stomach for a change this weekend.

And for many a meaty, high fat, high protein meal would be a first for them in months, courtesy of this occassion.

Increased money supply in the market will without doubt fuel local economies, create job's, promote trade and business.

Livestock owner's and butcher's will benefit most in coming day's and will surely get their moment of glory in sun shine.

Other industrie's too, like leather for example, will also not remain too far behind and hopefully by the end of festivities there will be far more winners than loosers.

The spirit of brother-hood, unity, comradeship and caring for one another, things so crucial for an all inclusive society, will reach at an all-time high, irrespective of caste, creed or religion and in so doing, many around the world will succeed in appeasing God in the process through expression of empathy toward's other human beings.

People who were previously neglected and did not receive the attention they deserve, will be brought in the fold and the fabric of society will be strengthened.

I am certain this enhanced economic activity will promote an equitable distribution of money down to where it's needed most.

For those who are celebrating, like me, i do, however, have a suggestion- something learnt from yester year's.

Do not stuff your refrigerator's with sacrificial meat- distribute it there and then in the true real spirit of sacrifice.

I can sense some respice knocking on the door of the hungry and the destitute; this weekend. From experience our world has too many hungry mouth's to feed and too many out there who even now look up to people like us for assitance, for help, for guidance and if nothing else holding their hand's during their difficult time's.

This in my view is the Abrahamic way and guarantee's acceptance of all prayer's and sacrifice in the eyes of God.

I think we should all work towards this and like a river meandering through a valley and such festive celebrations money will to some degree on it's own start finding it's way down to people in need- this i can say with total conviction.

Advance Eid Mubarak and happy holidays to all of you!
