3D Tiles On The Moon
OGC’s 3D Tiles Community Standard continues to go from strength to strength: it’s being used in Google Maps, by NBC Sports for coverage of the Paris Olympic Games, you can use them to view Korea’s ambitious new City Plan, and now Cesium have announced a 3D Tileset of the Moon comprised of precise terrain and imagery from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) program and others.
PDOK: A Decade of Success
The Public Services on the Map (Publieke Dienstverlening Op de Kaart) or PDOK, managed by Kadaster in The Netherlands, celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2023. By using OGC API Standards, Kadaster has found it significantly easier to handle the large volume of data in its national-scale 3D building dataset—providing an unparalleled, high-resolution perspective of the country's built environment.
New OGC Standard: MUDDI
The OGC Model for Underground Data Definition and Integration (MUDDI) has been approved as an official OGC Standard. MUDDI serves as a framework to make different datasets for underground objects interoperable, exchangeable, and more easily manageable. The Standard was also used in pilot testing for the UK National Underground Asset Register (NUAR). The MUDDI Working Group has also published a MUDDI For Everyone Guide to get new users up-to-speed.
