Expanding Our Work in Tanzania
Our shift to new locations in the southern half of Tanzania will enable more smallholder farmers to learn improved vegetable farming techniques. This part of the country is a national priority zone for horticulture and has the potential to become a hub for vegetable production.

Diving into Vegetable Farming in Madhya Pradesh
28-year-old Devkinandan Choudhary earned his living from wheat and soybeans, but he had always wanted to try vegetables. With training from our field staff, he learned how to produce three vegetable crops in one season, diversifying his income and achieving his vegetable farming dream.
Women Farmers Study: Phase 2 Begins
Our 2022 study on women farmers involved nearly 300 women in India, the Philippines, Tanzania, and Uganda. Building on last year’s research, the second phase of this initiative to better understand the needs of women in vegetable production is now underway in Myanmar.

Pesticide Guidance for Bangladesh’s Farmers
Our new Pesticide Selection Tool app, developed in partnership with Wageningen University & Research, seeks to educate farmers on pesticide application and reduce pesticide misuse, ultimately improving farm productivity and increasing the supply of safe-to-eat vegetables.
Partnering with Koppert to Tackle Bacterial Wilt
In partnership with Koppert India and Koppert Foundation, we launched an action research project on bacterial wilt in tomatoes, a serious problem for farmers in the rainy season. This research is being implemented at our Center of Excellence learning farm in India.
Collaborating with CABI on Information Access
Our new 5-year collaboration with international nonprofit organization CABI will lead to improved education and training opportunities for smallholder farmers, farmer trainers and extension workers, and other agriculture sector professionals.
