Never say "can't" Always say "tri"

Never say "can't" Always say "tri"

Saturday's are the perfect day to work on personal goals. If your Saturday falls on a Monday, switch it up. Make no excuses and commit time to you!

Whether it's picking up a new hobby, revisiting a forgotten one, or fine tuning a current one, self-development pushes us to new perspectives and balances out our push-pull of the weekly grind.  Companies and bosses are not responsible to develop you in 2015.

When we "know" more, we "grow" more!

Noise is all around us and increasingly so as a result of social media and the pressure to keep a job, look for a job, or find a new.  People complain, "I don't have TIME!"

*Stop, collaborate, and listen....

FACT:

1,440 minutes in a day. What percentage are you dedicating to self-improvement? 3% of our day is less than 45 minutes.  If you are spending time on Facebook, Pinterest, or lollygagging in analysis paralysis, you have time to dedicate to personal development!

Personal development is anything that pushes you to overcome fear, reach new limits, or expand your knowledge.  If you find yourself saying, "I hate...." or "I'm so uncomfortable around...." you've found your next opportunity to personally develop yourself.

If you're an extrovert and can't stop talking, join a networking group where people are introverts and spend more time thinking than talking. Expand your circle and meet up with people who are different than yourself. Learning by doing will accelerate your development.

Join a culturally diverse chamber of commerce organization in your community and attend meetings.  What better way to meet new people, learn about a new culture, and open your mind to new perspectives.

The greatest form of development and growth is that which we seek out and commit to doing. Actions always speak louder than words.  Word and deed will carry over into our professional performance.

Too many people are giving advice and not setting the stage. Industry career leaders and far too many workplace leaders/bosses are great for giving one-way advice.  How many are really walking the talk?  Do this, don't do that. 10 tips for this, 7 tips for that!

When it comes to personal development what are people really doing?

Take charge, be the difference, and develop yourself.  It really is that easy.

What am I working on?

I took up triathlons in 2014 and am hooked!  Can't get enough. 2 years, 12 tri's, 1 half marathon, 10 5 K's, and a myriad of others.

What are you working on? I want to know!!
