National Nonprofit Day: Let’s Spark Good, Together

Today we celebrate National Nonprofit Day—a day to recognize and appreciate a sector that impacts and touches countless lives every day. Nonprofits around the world – big and small – are the driving force behind many of the positive changes we see in our communities around the world.

Today gives us the opportunity to recognize the incredible dedication of those who work tirelessly behind the scenes, as well as the volunteers who selflessly give their time and skills to further the missions of these organizations.

Walmart and the Walmart Foundation supported more than 20,000 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations last year alone – and our Walmart.org team is honored to collaborate with many incredible nonprofit organizations each day. Since many of us come from the nonprofit sector ourselves, we know how much effort goes into fundraising and securing resources to make an organization’s mission possible, particularly in a challenging economic landscape. That’s why we sought to make it easier than ever for 501(c)(3) nonprofits to connect with the resources that Walmart can help provide – our associates, customers and stores and clubs – through Walmart’s Spark Good programs.

Spark Good was designed for public charities. It brings a robust suite of giving resources together – programs like Spark Good Round Up, Registry and the Space Request Tool on Walmart.com, as well as our local grants and associate giving and volunteerism programs. If you work for a charity and your organization is not already benefiting from our Spark Good programs, I encourage you to learn more at Walmart.org/sparkgood.

New this summer, schools became eligible to create a nonprofit account and benefit from tax-deductible donations through Walmart’s Spark Good Registry and Round Up programs. We’re currently offering incentives for schools to enroll in Spark Good, which you can learn about here.

As we celebrate Nonprofit Day, let’s remember that small actions can lead to big impact. Many nonprofit organizations have had a challenging year, and we can all play a part in helping them spark positive change in our communities, whether that be through the gift of time or donations. Reach out to the nonprofits in your community who work on the causes you care about, champion their efforts and share the good news about their work.

To the nonprofit professionals we work with each day: here’s to you. Happy National Nonprofit Day! 🌟

To have reached 20,000 nonprofits in one year is admirable.
