My love letter to the LaGuardia Airport

I don't typically write love letters to airports. I mean, let's be honest, most of them are a necessary evil. But LaGuardia? Well, LaGuardia is a different story.

Remember the old LaGuardia? The one that was a maze of construction cones and overflowing trash cans? I do. I flew out of there a few years ago, right before the grand reveal of their renovation. It was... okay. But let's be real, it wasn't exactly a dream come true.

Fast forward to my recent trip last week, and I was blown away. From the moment we pulled up to the curb, the Delta skycaps were there, ready to whisk our bags away. No waiting in line, no shuffling around. It was a well-oiled machine.

Security? A breeze. Starbucks? Multiple locations, zero lines. (Seriously, who knew this was possible in an airport?)

Even the bathrooms were a revelation. The bathroom sinks were clean, their canisters of soap fully stocked. Nothing was broken. The stalls were spacious enough for me to wheel my luggage in easily without having to do a dance around the toilet to make room. If you know, you know.

Crowds were manageable. Everyone was well behaved.

I'm starting to wonder if our standards have just gotten so low, or if LaGuardia truly is a modern-day miracle. Delta Air Lines : please add more non stop flights. I beg of you.

LaGuardia Airport : You've won me over. I can't wait to see you again.

Remember when it was a dingy airport with 8ft ceilings and construction everywhere. Can't believe this is the same place!!

This is great! As a New Yorker I remember the old LaGuardia when I was dropped off in a TORRENTIAL downpour 100 feet from the terminal and told to walk down the plane steps and across the tarmac. I looked like a crazed lunatic similar to Steve Martin to Planes, Trains and Automobiles!!!🤣🤣🤣
