On The Move - Literally

EPISODE 3 ACT II: ON THE MOVE – LITERALLY

For all my friends, fans, and colleagues who have ever produced a show, film, conference booth, speaker series, or any event, I am certain you will all agree with me when I muse that these tasks have similarities to a long-distance relocation. It requires strategy, planning, creating a great team, and expecting the unexpected.

The Muppet mobile (my Fiat 500) was packed with everything I needed to survive two weeks until the moving truck was due to arrive in SC. One pot, one pan, one set of cutleries and plates, one Yeti for hot 'n cold, one stiletto (security and cuts cheese LOL), gym clothes 'n gear, swim gear – you get the point. My copilots Joey and Jim (Jim is the little guy) helped me with the checklist. In life and business, it’s always great to have a reliable assistant and copilot.

As we drove through the Holland Tunnel that early evening, I felt as if I were an actress in a cheap sci-fi film like “Escape From New York” – so very happy to leave NYC. The ride was smooth and the first pitstop for the evening was Tinton Falls, NJ, where my bestie had the guestroom ready and dinner on the table – and of course, a good glass of wine. Tomorrow, the long drive from New Jersey to Bluffton, SC will begin at 7:15am. By my driving standards, I calculated that the drive would take 11:45 total time. That would average 80-85mph with (3) 10-minute stops for gas/restroom breaks. It's just like doing another ‘bun burner’…. easy peasy!
