Marketing Insight For Today's Grill/BBQ Manufacturers!

Marketing Insight For Today's Grill/BBQ Manufacturers!

As a manufacturer of grills and accessories, there is a unique opportunity to leverage your brand recognition to increase sales and drive growth. Here are some insights and recommendations to consider:

  1. Know your target audience: You should identify the different segments of your target audience, including casual backyard grillers, serious barbecue enthusiasts, and professional chefs. Understanding the unique needs and preferences of each segment will help you tailor your marketing strategies and product offerings.
  2. Emphasize the experience: Every company should highlight the social aspect of grilling in its marketing campaigns, emphasizing the opportunity for gathering with friends and family. You could feature customer testimonials and user-generated content that showcases the experience of using their products.
  3. Focus on the benefits: Instead of simply highlighting the features of their products, Companies should focus on the benefits they offer, such as even heat distribution, easy cleaning, and durability. These benefits can be highlighted in advertising, social media posts, and product descriptions.
  4. Use social media to your advantage: Every company should leverage their social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to engage with customers, share recipes, grilling tips, and product information. Some of us call this "New Media" because it is much more than the standard ways of advertising. You can create a hashtag that is unique to your brand, making it easy for customers to share their experiences on social media and strengthen the brand's visibility.
  5. Offer promotions and discounts: Businesses should consider offering discounts and promotions to entice customers to make a purchase. You can offer a special deal to customers who purchase a grill and related accessories, or you could run a promotion on social media that offers a free accessory with the purchase of a grill. After 15 years of doing The BBQ Central Show, I can tell you one thing, people LOVE free stuff (or things at a discount). Rule #3 of my show is "If it's free, it's me!"

In addition to these strategies, companies could also leverage the use of "new media" to help widen their brand recognition. Aligning with industry-related shows, like The BBQ Central Show, can be an effective way to reach a targeted audience that is already interested in grilling and barbecue. This type of media exposure can help your company/brand reach new customers, increase brand recognition, and build brand loyalty.

The more you understand your target audience along with the other items listed above, each company in our live-fire industry can strengthen its position in the grilling industry and continue to drive growth.
