Juggle Not Struggle

Juggle Not Struggle

Let the fuck go!

Let me set the table for you. I had meetings lined up for the entire day. Only one was scheduled in office, meaning I was on the road for the rest of the day. Those meetings were a 40 minute drive in between them. I haven't had the best health lately, but my day was scheduled, so I dove into it. It didn't take long for the day to get derailed. I am sure you can relate, as we all have days that we would like to forget. But here's the thing... it helps me to realize that it is okay not to get everything done. I take pride in my work, but I am a realist.

So my day starts going south immediately. I had a 13 hour day scheduled, and I needed it to run like clockwork. But it didn't. During that time....

My vendor ran late to one of my meetings

I got a flat tire

Went to 3 different service centers to finally get it repaired

I literally ran out of gas trying to stay on schedule

My phone died and I didn't have a charger while I was driving

2 clients called me in crisis

Despite all that went wrong, I only managed to miss one meeting. Overall, I crushed the day. That said, it was not a banner day. Not by a long shot. But I have learned over the course of years from meditating, it helps to juggle. Not struggle. I have also realized that it is okay, not to get everything done.

Knowing when to take a strategic pause, is a life saver.

One of the biggest lessons I have learned working with the dying is making peace. Peace with reality. Yes, we all make plans. But how many of them work out as we expected? Yet here we are, still doing this thing called life. I admit that I am a workaholic. But knowing when to take a strategic pause, is a life saver. I worked very hard to stay optimistic, professional and on time yesterday. But, it seemed like all the forces in this world were working against me. Even at the time of this writing, my health is kicking my ass. I'm here. I'm pushing through, and will end this blog so I can take the wife out for an ice cream date. Priorities!

I will close with these words. It's okay to leave things on your to do list. There are forces much stronger than our egos. And they will make us brutally aware of that. Control is an illusion. Get in the habit of learning to juggle. Get the important shit done, and don't struggle with the rest. Letting go can be very empowering. In no way is it a loss. It is simple life.
