Its a big, big world out there.

Taking a novel product or idea to market has a dichotomous challenge. The product / idea has to be sharply defined to differentiate itself from the competition and attract its first customers,  but the business should have a broader game plan that can sustain it over the course of many years.    Many of us start with great differentiated products and get initial success.  However, as competition heats up , we find the differentiation narrowing.

I believe that building the company and the product is akin to climbing out of a deep gorge.  Initially we start focused on the climb. The gorge looked tough and formidable.  But as we climb through the mist, sunlight of new revenue slowly streams through and gives us hope.  If we sustain ourselves to the top of the gorge - we find that the horizon is vast and many a miles to walk.    The journey will entail many more valley and peaks.

Walk On!
