What effect did the support from Innosuisse have on your company?

Lambert Sonna: The funding made the development of our technology possible in the first place. Our three-year innovation project was interdisciplinary, making it particularly cost-intensive. This laid the foundation for the miniaturisation and industrialisation of the technology. This support was the prerequisite for us having a market-ready product today.

What makes the VenoScanner a world first?

The scanning of veins in itself is not new. But we are the first to use a multi-view scanning process that eliminates confusion. The big advantage is that vein networks are private biometric information – unlike public biometric information, including the face, iris, fingerprint or DNA, which can all be collected without our consent. In addition, our technology sets new standards with respect to data protection and cybersecurity.

What are your next goals?

We are currently preparing to enter the market and are confident about growing quickly. We are aiming to create 100 jobs in Switzerland by 2030. In the long term, I also see our process as an opportunity for the world’s population. There are one billion undocumented individuals in the world. Our technology could help provide them with an identity, since it offers new possibilities for digital IDs.
