What is the Industrial Metaverse in an educational context?

The industrial metaverse represents a new era of digital transformation in education.  Holistically, the Industrial Metaverse (IM) supports business areas in industry to help with supply chain issues, labour shortages, and energy restrictions. These issues have inspired commercial industries to better understand, predict, and interact with the physical world. This movement has led leaders in commercial companies to apply new technologies that have the potential to unlock previous process and facility investments.

The industrial metaverse in an educational context is an emerging technology that has the opportunity to integrate the physical and digital worlds through dynamic environments, helping schools visualize data, simulate areas in learning, support educational processes, develop smarter classrooms and buildings and reimagine educational process operations. It uses foundational technologies—including AI, Digital Twins, mixed reality, internet of things (IoT), Analytics, and machine learning—all of which are fundamentally changing how we educate students, design learning spaces, build learning experiences, operate schools, manage school systems and optimize all the physical processes in the education systems. 

In education industrial metaverse will be a driver to increase teacher productivity, student outcomes, personalization of learning, driving insight, increasing performance, driving sustainability, and creating resiliency in the education systems.
