India: Top Improver For a Second Consecutive Year

India: Top Improver For a Second Consecutive Year

India’s growing economy and the quantum leap in the country’s ease of doing business rankings is notable. In NDA government, India climbed another 23 notches in the year 2018 in the World Bank’s ease of doing business index to 77th place, becoming the top ranked country in South Asia for the first time and third among the BRICS. In the last two years the country has climbed 53 notches and 65 since NDA government came to power.

India ranked 4th among 190 economies for protecting minority investors and top 25 in the world on three indicators- getting electricity, getting credit and protecting minority investors, and the top improvers of the year. India also replaced the value added tax with the Goods and Services Tax (GST) for which the registration process is faster in both Delhi and Mumbai, the two cities measured by the Doing Business report. India has been taking structural reforms this year; in areas like resolving insolvency, reforms in taxation, providing electricity.

In last 4 years, India has undertaken multiple structural reforms to ensure long-term sustainable inclusive growth. This has resulted in global recognition of India as the powerhouse with a voice that matters. As a result India is the world's 5th largest economy in the world and has the third highest GDP in Asia. India is among one of the few markets in the world that offers such high prospects of growth and earning in virtually all sectors of the economy. A nation with more then a billon dreams rises to claim its due on global stage.

We are working on a comprehensive strategy for all geographic and product specific matrices to tune the plan for making India a $5 trillion economy by 2025 and a $10 trillion economy by 2035.

This does not reflect the true picture since this improvement is primarily on two accounts - 1. Ease of construction permits in Delhi and Mumbai. 2. Ease of getting electricity connection. In ease of starting business India remains 137/190 and enforcing contracts 164/190.
