Humility doesn't hold you back

Humility doesn't hold you back

Humility doesn't hold you back! In leadership, it's a fusion of modesty and wisdom, understanding that nothing revolves around oneself but the value co-created with and for others. While it might sound counterintuitive, to me, humility has proven to be a significant source of energy and power, propelling things forward and uniting people for a common purpose from managing teams to aligning on major initiatives with the Board and Organizations.

I extend my gratitude to Jelena Malenovic for guiding me through my first challenging cross-cultural learning experience. Two decades ago, in my naive belief that my Romanian background would suffice to lead the proud Avon Serbia and Montenegro team, Jelena gently redirected my path. She showed me that the spark is not solely within me but resides in the very purpose we all collectively pursue. People are drawn to leaders who embody the value potential they see for their own lives and community, to genuine connectors, enablers and multipliers and not to people who center all actions on themselves.

On a personal level, being and acting humble is liberating and empowering. I know it may sound strange but for many of you is a real feeling, isn't it?

Powerful advice, Angela. Here's to all the "connectors, enablers and multipliers" out there!
