How to stop creams splashing out of the ointment mill ?
Do you sometimes find it annoying when creams splash out of your ointment mill? Do you worry about cleaning up the rollers? Just follow the tips below to check for possible causes. This problem is quite easy to prevent. Please visit our website for more information about three roll mill. http://www.threerollmill.com/index.html
1. Set suitable gap sizes.
Usually the front roller spins faster than the rear roller. In order to balance the input and output, we recommend setting the rear gap size a little bit larger than the front gap size. In fact, if the rear gap size is too much larger than the front, the input will be more than the output. As a result, the creams may splash out of both sides of the rear gap.
For example, the ideal gap setting for Torrey Hills Technologies’ T50 Ointment Mill, would be “1” for the front roller and “3” for the rear roller.
2. Check the condition of the plastic guides and the scraper.
If the plastic guides are not set just on top of the rollers properly, there will be tiny gaps between the guides and the rollers. Therefore, the creams may leak through the gap.
Likewise, if there is a gap between the front roller and the scraper, the cream cannot be collected sufficiently, which will lead to a larger input than output. In the end, the creams will splash out again. So the technicians should always check the plastic guides and the scraper before running the mill.
3. Lower the speed if necessary.
On the one hand, when running at full speed, the ointment mill can process more products in a given time period which means better productivity and higher output. However, on the other hand, when the rollers rotate at a very high speed, the creams will be thinner. And the thin creams are much easier to splash out because they cannot adhere to the rollers firmly as the thicker ones do. Therefore, keep the mill in a relatively higher speed is the best solution. It can reduce the risk of splashing while don’t lose too much efficiency.
Just a few simple steps could help reducing a waste and making the cleaning easier. Everyone could become an expert at running an ointment mill!
