How To Make The Most Of Working Virtually

DISRUPT Media, like many other companies, has shut our office doors and is moving forward as a work from home business for the foreseeable future. Here's how we are getting the most out of our days while working from couches, kitchens, and closets.

1) COMMUNICATION COMMUNICATION COMMUNICATION

COVID-19 has not touched our scheduled meetings. In fact, we've added two additional group meetings each day to check in during the morning and afternoon. Along with our group video calls, departments and co-workers have been encouraged to Facetime each other and interact as normally as possible.

2) CALCULATED EXPECTATIONS

DISRUPT has always offered a flexible daily schedule. Now, because we might all have a few more distractions (Kids, dogs, laundry), we have a set time in which everyone needs to be very reachable to serve our clients best.

3) CHEER

Everyone in the world has experienced some level of change in the past few weeks. A lot of it has possibly been hard and feels uncomfortable. In the middle of all this, it's still essential to have a little bit of fun. Jokes, good stories, and gratitude are all welcomed and encouraged on our calls and messages. Adjusting can be difficult; adjusting without laughter and smiles is impossible.

How have you made the best of this situation?

Working from home requires some structure as you have outlined here. As someone who has worked remotely, whether at home or on the road, process and structure is the key. Also, at this point and time, your first point about communication is the most important. Emails, group texts, shout calls , and individual check ins are crucial right now. There is no over communicating today in my opinion.
