How big has TikTok become? Is it a miss for the Indian users?
Behind closed doors, TikTok has become a global giant in social media and is becoming one of the biggest search engines on the internet.
Back then, in a hypothetical situation, the Indian audience was divided into two halves, one who loved TikTok for its quirky short-form content and the other half who disliked it for its not-so-appealing content. The social media giant was said to be complicit and noncompliant with the rule of the land. Hence, the Indian Government fell in the second category and ultimately banned it!
Though the door for TikTok was closed in India, it continued to gain popularity across the globe. Today, it is the fourth biggest social media platform following Instagram with around 1.8 Billion monthly active users.
Here are some stats about TikTok in 2024 -
Users: TikTok is expected to reach 1.8 billion monthly active users by the end of 2024.
Age: 36.2% of TikTok users worldwide are between the ages of 18 and 24.
Gender: 54.3% of TikTok users are male and 45.7% are female.

Amazing! Isn’t it? There is more to it!
TikTok has plans to enter the Search Ad segment where it offers a plethora of opportunities for brands and marketers with one-of-a-kind tools.
Unlike Google Search ads where anyone can advertise, TikTok is prominently focusing on the young generation (36.2% of TikTok users worldwide are between the ages of 18 and 24). This gives an edge to brands focusing on GenZ and their similar generations.
Is it a miss for the Indian audience?
The market trend suggests that whatever grows across the world has to have its presence in India. It is a global narrative. However, TikTok, Bullet Trains, and Tesla are still far-sighted!
