Harriet Wiltshire: Tailoring her perfect career in Buying.
In the dynamic fashion at NEXT HQ, there are individuals who not only shine bright but also inspire others with their passion and dedication. Meet Harriet Wiltshire a remarkable talent whose journey at NEXT so far, is nothing short of inspiring.
Just over two years ago, Harriet embarked on her NEXT adventure as a Trainee Buyer in Menswear shirts. Fast forward to today, and her journey has been pretty action-packed. Within just 16 months, she was promoted to the role of Assistant Buyer, a testament to her exceptional skills and commitment.
I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with Harriet over coffee, and her story left me thoroughly inspired. It quickly became evident that her success wasn't just a stroke of luck but a result of determination and a passion for her craft.
One of Harriet's defining moments came when the team faced challenges and needed additional support. Despite being relatively new, Harriet stepped up to the plate, exceeding her own expectations and earning the trust of her peers and managers alike. During this time, Harriet felt trusted with the range, not just by her manager but the wider team as well. It was encouraging to hear that Next Menswear is so good at offering Assistant Buyers true ownership of their range and the chance to work autonomously, allowing them to be creative with fabrics and shapes. Harriet was given a whole product range as a trainee (including ties worn by our CEO!!) and we currently have around 300 tie options in our range!!
What sets NEXT Menswear apart is its culture of empowerment and trust. Harriet spoke of the opportunities she has received, from owning entire product ranges to travelling all over the world! These experiences not only honed her skills but also instilled in her a sense of confidence and purpose… And things just keep getting better! With a recent move to the Tailoring Separates team, she embraces the challenge of looking after new products such as blazers, shackets, bombers, trousers and coats. Her sights are set on further growth and development, with plans to assist the ever growing department of men's tailoring separates to help create exciting and innovative Product.
Having spent time with Harriet, her journey reminds me that with passion, perseverance, and a willingness to embrace challenges, anything is possible. So here's to Harriet! Your journey is an inspiration to us and we eagerly anticipate the remarkable achievements that lie ahead. Keep up the amazing work. ✨👏
