The Giant Within Me
A group of Giants from Poland. In the Rat City

The Giant Within Me

I was 13 years old when I put my hand on this book. I did not know who Anthony Robbins was. But the book was amazing. It had stories inside, like a bible. Stories of Americans. Making big mind shifts in their lives. I was thinking oh wow, this is how the adult’s life looks like. Continuous struggle and continuous overcoming of challenges.

It passed 10 years and I landed in the country of Anthony Robbins' Giants. At that point, I heard that walking on fire was possible. I did not know how much I need to change to accomplish that, to fit in into adult reality, to thrive.

Growing up in the countryside in Poland had its positive sides. It was quite loving, nature, family, friends, neighbors, cats. Everyone seems to get along with each other pretty much.

I had no idea as a #tomatogirl that there is a big world where people fight like rats. They are even universities to learn to be a good rat. There is even a city with races for them, called New York City. I didn't know that I'm going to end up calling it home. The rats’ city. Theoretically and literally.

For many years I was bouncing from right to left. Up and down with the wind, sometimes I encountered tornadoes that took me to totally unknown places. Situations where I had to fight with my nails to survive. I never gave up. There was a powerful giant living inside my skinny body helping me to endure all the struggles.

Now.

I walk on fire with my closed eyes. I'm not afraid to burn my soles. Actually. I do enjoy the feeling of heat under my feet.

Am I a masochist?!

It makes me feel alive. It's just a matter of getting used to and believing it's possible.

Yes, it is not easy to be an immigrant. Everything is strange to you. It is never going to be 100% your home. Basically, forever you are homeless. Your soul, your heart is torn between different places, different realities.

It looks like I am one of those creatures who thrive in constant challenges. And you know what? You can get used to it and enjoy what life brings you when you write your own story.

Take off your socks. Throw out your shoes. Step on the hot stones.

 And enjoy.

Do you think you can do it? What is holding you?

Anthony said no problem. Just believe….

I believe.

“The only thing that’s keeping you from getting what you want is the story you keep telling yourself.”

Anthony Robbins
