Get Your Financial Lifeboats Ready

You’re probably noticing that when it comes to ‘financial freedom’ blog posts are normally filled with stunning stock photographs that set a scene in your mind. You know the drill, a beautiful sandy beach (see below), yachts moored in a stunning marina etc, etc.

But what do you do when you already live in such a place?

Arguably the south Devon coast means we have all that anyway - right here on our doorstep!

What you didn't realise is the writing has been on the wall for those that have bothered to look. We might live somewhere wonderful but when will you be financially free enough to actually stop working and enjoy the area even more?

The Truth

Here’s the worst part, the truth is The Office for National Statistics says 50% of all wealth in the UK is held by just 12% of households.

And I would bet my bottom dollar, that this pandemic is going to upset the applecart even further.

As this new economy emerges you and I must understand that this presents both danger AND opportunity.

If history has taught us anything, it’s the little things that make a big difference.

You see when it comes to wealth management you don't have to be rich to use a wealth manager. You don’t have to have a footballer’s salary. You don’t need to have won the national lottery. Being financially free is affordable for pretty much anyone.

We can all be at the helm of our nimble ships, with the autonomy to do what we want, so there is a real and affordable opportunity there for those who to be financially free and not be working their fingers to the bone until aged 70, or 75 – even if it is a nice place to live!

The truth is it wasn’t raining the day Noah built the Ark, so when it comes to being financially able to stop working at some point I’d have you consider the possibility that security is one of your major goals in life and I know you sometimes you put things off.

It’s also fair to say you've gone through a lot of ups and downs over the past few months emotionally and financially and that has caused some stress in your life.

I predict that over the next 12 months money will move at a pace that none of us has ever seen before. The new economy is going to leave a trail of dying businesses, dying towns and dying industries in its wake as the money moves.

The peril of this means that now, more than any time in recent modern history we need to move to higher ground. That’s what we are doing with our clients. We’re putting lifeboats in place, life vests too, so when the storm hits (and it will) we’re ready, they're ready, the question is are you ready?

If you want to make sure you have your financial lifeboats at hand in an affordable way – connect with me. We can make sure that if you fall apart your financial life plan doesn't fall apart with you.

Excellent article Karl. What I love is that I can hear your voice in your writing. Great analogy, really clear and easy to understand.

Really useful advice in the article The article (I think) paints a picture where wealth is likely to be further concentrated in the pockets of the rich after all of this. From a macro-economic standpoint, does this help economic recovery? As the rich are more likely to save than spend, when compared to the not-so-rich, should wealth redistribution not be at the heart of fiscal policy in order to get us all back to a prosperous society?

Hi Karl an interesting read and makes sense. Also Sarah says enjoy it "in later life" but I guess half the battle is to be able to enjoy it as soon as we can because we never know what "later life" may bring. Does that also mean you can work with anyone really irrespective of their income? Si

Its certainly going to be a very interesting 12 months ahead isn't it and in any crisis, some will be making money and some will be loosing out, I guess good planning and preparation will hopefully mean we all survive and emerge stronger...
