GENERAL MOTORS SAYS THE CHIP SHORTAGE IS OVER
In My Opinion I'm Extremely Skeptical If This Is True!
GENERAL MOTORS HAS ANNOUNCED THE CHIP SHORTAGE IS OVER ... Of course, they've been telling investors that since December.
Is that a Lie? What if it's actually true? What if the Microchip shortage suddenly was over? Most internationally recognized experts agree that the chip shortage will continue throughout 2022, but what if Mary Barra and the resident geniuses at General Motors knew something they didn't?
Franchised Car Dealers need to realize that there are literally hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of cars stored all over the globe, in the U.S., Singapore, and Europe that are already built and waiting for chips and parts, and a new model year is around the corner.
“Wait a minute here Ziegler, did you say, "Waiting for Parts"?
YUP, the supply chain and raw materials shortages keeping up with demand from all industries and products outside of automotive, is a challenge we don't talk about because our attention is so focused on the chip shortage.
BUT, what if ... What if, somehow the chip shortage actually was magically over, and the manufacturers began delivering all of these partially built cars they've been storing?
Great! The manufacturers have begun delivering cars with some assembly required, and an IOU for features the car has already built in just waiting for chips to make them functional.
Okay, most consumers would actually tell you they don't want the stop and go engine cutoffs that most cars come with. So, very few, if anybody, cares that cars are being delivered without the engine cutoff feature, and we'll activate that feature when the chips are available.
BUT, if you live in the Northeast or Alaska for instance, maybe your new Ford or Chevy will have heated seats and heated steering wheels that are bult in your new car, we're just giving you a "We-Owe" to install the chips that make those accessories start when we get them, same thing with climate control digital temperature displays. 'Remote Start', you silly consumers, did you think that just because the car's window sticker says it's installed, it doesn't work until we get the chips. There are many non-safety relayed options installed in the cars but do not presently work because they are awaiting chips.
Excuse me Ziegler, "They are Not delivering cars with 'Safety-Related Accessories' that are not operational, right?"
Wrong, there are manufacturers delivering cars with Side Blind Zone Alert and Super Cruise driver-assist technology disabled waiting chips, even some of the not required camera options. The list goes on and on.
It appears to me, and I might be wrong, that the manufacturers are trying to convince the public it's okay to buy a new car because the chip shortage is over, although we all know it's actually not over, but we've got to get rid of these partially built cars and trucks before the model year changes.
LIED TO AGAIN
AND, once again, the dealers will have to fade the heat, when consumers realize that they were lied to. Who lied to them, well let's just say it wasn't the dealers? The customers took these cars partially built and paid for accessories they thought would be activated in a short time ... after all they told us that chip shortage is over. These are the same manufacturers who are advertising that if you order a car or truck, we'll deliver it to you in less than six weeks, when in reality they can't produce it in six months.
Look at the Drone Photos on Google Search of storage lots all over the world bulging with partially built cars and trucks.
Timely delivery of BUILT TO ORDER CARS AND TRUCKS IS JUST ANOTHER LIE and the Dealers will have to apologize for and take the consumers' wrath. Just my opinion based on past performance, current performance and a history of inept management performance.
