From Job Loss to Job Offer: Cross Your Fingers!
Happiness and job fulfilment ebb and flow, often subjecting us on a rollercoaster of emotions.
In my conversations with those currently out of work, I've seen the deep impact that job loss can have on financial stability, emotional health, and overall well-being. The weight of it all can be overwhelming, especially for those with families and bills to pay. I’ve witnessed many reach rock bottom during this challenging period. The paradox about reaching the ultimate low point is that you can’t go any lower, so the only way is up.
Here is the good news: From the executives and leaders I have been engaging with more and more of them are finding their way back into the workforce. It might be taking longer, the pay check might be different from before and the process can be draining, but job offers are happening.
If you’re in the midst of your own job search, remember that staying proactive is key. Also remind yourself what’s within your control!
Yes, ghosting and multiple interview rounds can be frustrating and stressful, but persistence will pay off.
Here are some tips to help you stand out:
Take Daily Action: Keep moving forward by taking proactive steps every day in your job search.
Fine-Tune Your LinkedIn Profile: Regularly update your LinkedIn profile to showcase your skills, experience, and unique value.
Start Posting: Share insightful content on LinkedIn to build your personal brand and catch the eye of hiring managers and industry peers, start a newsletter, hire a VA.
Uncover Hidden Job Opportunities: Network with professionals at companies you’re interested in—many roles aren’t publicly advertised.
Engage with Hiring Managers: Reach out to current and potential hiring managers with valuable suggestions on how you can contribute and solve their challenges. Keep in touch with them and connect on a regular basis.
Cross Your Fingers: Hope for the best, envision yourself being bold and big to put yourself in a positive mindset. Physical exercise helps!
However, before diving into these strategies, I encourage you to take 15 minutes to reflect on an essential question: What is my purpose? Think about what mission you want to create or what causes resonate most deeply with you.
Set your timer and write all of what comes to you.
Defining what’s most important to you will give you a clear sense of direction and a reason for existence. This clarity will help you approach your job search—and interviews—with greater confidence and purpose. This will help you stand out in how you come across in the hiring process.
