Find your 'Tigger'

Find your 'Tigger'

1 Year ago today I took a huge leap of faith and started my own company - MILESTONE - which was very much a milestone in my life.

In October 2016 I decided to stop working and take 3 months out, I can highly recommend it. After working tirelessly in a work place that I didn't enjoy being in, working at a million miles an hour and giving everything I could no matter what, not being happy or having fun, being stressed, suffering from anxiety and slightly depressed, I forgot what was most important 'ME' and being 'HAPPY', I lost the 'TIGGER' in me!

3 Months later and still not really knowing what to do, I realised that I didn't want to work for someone else and as well didn't want to travel every day into London - that's just another stress ball and time eating mechanism.

Then came the idea about supporting other recruiters with their recruitment needs - I have an amazing eye for great talent and understanding what fits with different business's, plus I can't stand taking short cuts / doing a half job, so I was very sure I would provide honest / trustworthy / a complete service to them and at the same time really value the people that I'm helping to find employment.

The name MILESTONE came about from my best friend and his wife, it took a while to come up with the name after GLove recruitment was the front runner - so glad I didn't go with that and a huge 'THANKS' to them!! It fits better than a GLove.... goes to show that sometimes your ideas aren't always the best ones!

So the last year, it has been really tough and I have come across many obstacles which I have got through, but what has been most important is that working for myself provided me the opportunity to find my 'TIGGER' again and I can say that being my own boss has been the best thing I could have ever done.

I have received such great support from my wife and family who I cant thank enough, as well as my good friends and the companies that I have started working with, it goes with out saying that without them I wouldn't be 1 year in - so 'THANK YOU' for being there for me!!

I'm not at the point of being financially better off yet compared to where I previously worked and I'm not worried about that. What is more important to me is that I'm 'HAPPY', I don't travel into London often, I don't get out of bed at 5am anymore (8am now) I don't run / work at a million miles an hour anymore (unless I'm actually running - which I do more of now that I work from home), I'm no where near as stressed as I used to be. However I do miss getting free and amazing - food one of the great perks of my previous role!

For anyone that is stuck in a rut and feels down and out, there is a way back to being what you used to be or even being a better you, just takes time, time to reflect, time to regather, time to recharge and refocus, time to change, time to move away from any negativity that you don't need, time to relax and breathe, time to be free, time to think about what will make you 'HAPPY' - it is possible!!

It's the best thing I have ever done and honestly taking this leap of faith - if you are thinking of starting your own business, yep its scary at first, but wait until you see the huge rewards - not the money but what the positive outcomes are!!

Happy 1st Anniversary to 'MY' milestone and I cant wait to see what they next year holds for me and 'MILESTONE'.

PS sorry to bore you if you managed to get to this sentence, if you have (and not bored) and it has inspired or motivated you then that was the aim!!! Go find your 'TIGGER' and best of luck for 2018!!!
