FINAL FOUR & RECRUITING
You can't turn on a TV without hearing about game results for the NCAA Tournament. The level of competition this year has been amazing and although my bracket is destroyed, I've enjoyed watching every game. This tournament also proves the importance of a team effort. Zion Williamson from Duke is projected to be the first overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft, but Duke lost to Michigan State, keeping him out of the Final Four. Zion could not reach the Final Four by himself, and you can't reach your potential by yourself!
Recruiting is also a team sport, and we have people on both sides of our process. We have candidates who want us to help them find their next career move and hiring authorities who want to hire top talent. It's our job to enhance the career of every person we represent while we present talent that can help companies achieve their goals. It may sound simple, but it's not. Competition for top talent is extreme and every day you're challenged to recruit the best, not just the 15% of the talent pool who are conducting an active job search.
Your team should include your hiring authorities who must provide you with a detailed game plan in order for you to draft the best talent for their job. Team members should also include referrals of talent from individuals you've hired or placed, internal employee referrals, your professional and personal network as well as your drafting/recruiting efforts. Everyone should understand the caliber of talent you represent and you must always scout top talent.
Every team in the NCAA Tournament and NBA also know why someone should play for their team. Why should someone trust you to help them make their next career move? Why should someone want to work for your company as opposed to your competition? Answers to those two questions, will help you draft the BEST talent, who won't end up sitting on the bench, but will be the in the game helping your company achieve their goals!
