Everything You Need to Know About the Delhi Solar Subsidy

The Delhi Solar Portal offers a variety of subsidies and incentives for both residential and commercial users who want to install rooftop solar panels, making solar energy more accessible and affordable. You need to know everything about Delhi Solar subsidy.

Key Features of the Delhi Solar Portal

Solar Calculator

This tool helps users estimate how much energy their rooftop solar installation could generate based on their roof size, energy consumption, and location.

Online Application

The portal allows users to apply for net metering, Generation-Based Incentive (GBI), and capital subsidies directly, reducing the need for physical visits to government offices.

Vendor Directory

The portal includes a list of authorized vendors who can assist with the installation of solar panels.

Subsidy Structure

The Delhi government offers two main types of incentives for rooftop solar panel installations:

Capital Subsidy

Residential customers can avail a subsidy of ₹2,000 per kW, with a cap of ₹10,000. This is in addition to the central government’s subsidy. For commercial and industrial users, this subsidy structure may differ based on their specific project scale.

Generation- Based Incentive(GBI)

For residential consumers: ₹3 per unit for installations up to 3 kW ₹2 per unit for installations between 3 and 10 kW For commercial and industrial consumers, ₹1 per unit of solar power generated. This incentive is provided for five years after the installation of the system, helping consumers recover the installation costs while promoting renewable energy use.

Residential vs. Commercial Subsidy

For residential users, the subsidies are more generous with the capital subsidy (₹2,000 per kW) and a higher GBI rate. In contrast, commercial users receive a slightly lower GBI of ₹1 per unit but can benefit from more significant scale installations.

Central vs. Delhi Subsidy

While the Delhi government offers capital subsidies and GBI, these are complementary to the central government’s schemes, which also provide financial assistance for solar panel installations under various schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM).
