The Environment Matters...

We always knew that Ruckify would have a positive impact on the environment because Ruckify’s technology provides members with an easy-to-use peer-to-peer marketplace that can be used to share items within communities across North America. Sharing items and renting what we need allows us to save resources, contribute to our local economies, and extend the life cycle of our products. 

 What we didn’t know is how we could take our passion for the environment one step further. As a global leader in the sharing economy, the environment is at the forefront of everything we do, and we wanted to add a tangible element to our business so members could begin to make the connection between renting and having a positive impact on the environment. 

 After brainstorming ideas with my family, my daughter Paige recommended that we plant a tree for every transaction. Initially I had no idea how we could implement such a big concept. I literally envisioned my team and I going out into the forest and physically planting every single tree. It didn’t occur to me that we could partner with a third party to bring our idea to life. 

 My wife immediately loved the idea and knew that it was something we had to work on. I called Paige back and we got to work on hammering out the details. We decided that we would plant a tree for every single transaction including every time a member leaves a review, rents an item, or signs-up for Ruckify. 

 The Ruckify TreeProject also presented us with a unique opportunity to gamify our app. The TreeProject made it possible for our members to receive instant gratification after every single transaction. Each time they transact, they immediately gain tree points which are automatically applied to their Ruckify profile. Each member can visit their profile and view the direct impact they are having on the environment by using Ruckify.

 It was important to us that we partnered with an organization that shared our same passion for the environment. After doing some research, we decided to partner with The Eden Reforestation project. Eden Reforestation Projects reduce extreme poverty and restore healthy forests by employing local villagers to plant millions of trees every year. Since they began, over 250 million trees have been planted around the world in Ethiopia, Madagascar, Nepal, Haiti, Indonesia, and Mozambique. 

The Ruckify TreeProject has become a staple in identifying our brand and we’re extremely proud that we’re able to contribute to the reforestation of our planet with your help. By the year 2025, Eden hopes to plant a minimum of 500 million trees each year and to offer hope by employing impoverished villagers in countries where extreme poverty is rampant with fair wages.
