Dynamics 365 HR - Still value for money?
Dynamics HR is heading back home to Dynamics Operations where it evolved from initially (and actually hasn't stopped existing). The roadmap for this merger to take place is dependant on testing, but I sense we can expect some early adopters to succeed towards to back end of 2022, particularly if there is 1000+ records at play. Careful planning and test cutover execution will be the key to success and one size will not fit all, things could be made super simple with the right decision making or made ultra complicated with incorrect designs based on what we now know. (Organisation structure planning should also form part of your transition as you may want to develop some new capabilities internally to make the best of future opportunities 1 year + out).
The great news is there is no end of life date for Dynamics HR yet, and ring-fenced success is still achievable. Great if you have no systems, or want to evolve systems, and want an awesome, secure Microsoft estate to digitally improve your business.
Do you need to back out of siloed Leave and absence, Case Management, Performance Management systems, bits of paper and erroneous spreadsheets, and other information management oddities and gremlins?
With a quick, but considered approach Dynamics HR can form a milestone towards to management of people information in your modern workforce architecture, and in-particular if you embrace wider parts of what Microsoft offers.
For a HR professional the transformative foundations are there improving information security, contractor management, self-service, case management, people development to name a few.... The merger will also mean in the future you'll have access to other features such as resource and expense management, time and attendance, timesheets, and the one for my management accountant friends, position budgeting :)
