Dude, Call your Mom

Dude, Call your Mom

As far as New Year’s Resolutions go, honestly, they went by the wayside for me years ago. Don’t get me wrong, I reflect on my past year and think about what I’m going to do differently in the next one. But I don’t put pressure on myself and inevitably identify too many lofty goals that I will ultimately never finish and then feel worse about. Instead, I like to take lessons as they come and set a goal right then and there. It can be as simple as the one in this picture I saw “Talk to each other! Call your Mom!”.

Being part of a Customer Success Organization at one of the most dynamic companies on the planet, I will infuse (another goal is to use words I don’t normally use :) this lesson into most of my daily work life. In fact this morning I took my own advice. I was booking travel through our online system and I was told the hotel of choice was sold out. A colleague said he called and got a room. I thought YES. Exactly! Pick up the phone and call. What a novel concept! Perhaps there is something they can do for me. In this case, perhaps not, but still it’s nice to try and resolve things through live communication when possible.

A short and sweet blog to kick off 2015 (another goal of mine to blog more). You see, I’ve set 3 attainable goals, 2 while writing this blog alone. Dream big, start small.

Talk to one another, communicate live when and where possible and Dude, call your Mom!

Let's not forget about "real" communication - isn't it nice to actually hear a voice once in a while rather than receiving a text, twitter or email?
