Domino’s identifies marketing as ‘core pillar of competitive advantage’ in updated growth plan

Domino’s has pledged to “enhance” its marketing investment, describing it as a “core pillar of [its] competitive advantage” as it sets out a plan to grow over the next five years.

The Profitability and Growth Framework (PGF) was agreed upon between the company and its franchise partners and aims to “capitalise on its significant long-term growth opportunity”. “The National Advertising Fund (NAF) is a core pillar of our competitive advantage,” Dominos says in a statement laying out the new framework.

A third of marketers expect retail media ad spend to rise in 2025

According to WARC, marketers expect part of this to be driven by a surge in retail media spend, with 32% of them saying that investment in retail media will increase next year.

Marketers are generally optimistic all round about advertising in 2025, with 65% of them expecting improved trading conditions. However, marketing budget expectations aren’t quite as positive.

J.Crew Group names new Chief Marketing Officer

J.Crew Group, the omnichannel retailer that includes J.Crew and Madewell, has named Julia Collier its new Chief Marketing Officer. Julia Collier, who was most recently senior vice president of marketing at Skims, where she ran brand marketing and creative, will take up her new role with J.Crew on January 6, 2025. She will be based in New York and report directly to Libby Wadle, J.Crew Group's chief executive officer.

Løci opens debut physical retail store in London

British vegan footwear and apparel brand Løci, which counts actor Leonardo DiCaprio and rapper Nicki Minaj as investors, has opened its first physical store with a future retail concept in London.

Løci has partnered with experiential immersive retail space Future Stores on Oxford Street to open a pop-up concept that merges cutting-edge technology, including 4,300 square feet of digital screens, with traditional bricks-and-mortar shopping in the run-up to Christmas.

The UK's cybersecurity chief Richard Horne has warned that the country is underestimating the severity of online threats from hostile states and criminal gangs.

In his first major speech as head of GCHQ's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Horne highlighted a trebling of "severe" incidents amid Russian "aggression and recklessness" and China's "sophisticated" digital operations.

GCHQ chief opens £5.8m cyber and digital centre

A £5.8m cyber and digital centre has opened in Gloucestershire, which will help the area become "the cyber capital of the UK". The FuturePark centre is based at the University of Gloucestershire in Cheltenham and was unveiled by Anne Keast-Butler, director of the Government Communication Headquarters (GCHQ).

Ms Keast-Butler said: “If we are to meet the growing challenges of an uncertain world, it is essential that we collaborate with business and our universities, and that together we nurture the talent coming through our education system.”
