Simple Steps, Big Dreams: 5 Powerful Strategies for Success
#CloserThanYouThink - "Every step you take, every challenge you face, and every goal you set is a part of your journey towards success."
Remember, your dreams are often closer than you think. It can be hard to hold onto this belief, but this picture serves as a powerful reminder for me.
I've been to the LinkedIn NYC Empire State Building a handful of times, always holding the desire to be a part of something significant there and even get a chance to have access/see the studio area. Well, this photo was captured as I prepared to join Get Hired by LinkedIn News with Andrew Seaman last month. It was a great moment for me, as I deeply admire Andrew's work, and I felt truly honored by his invitation.
Here are some invaluable tips and lessons to consider:
1️⃣ Define Clear Objectives: Know exactly what you want to achieve. Specific goals provide direction and motivation. Clarity in your objectives allows for focused effort, making it easier to measure progress and stay committed to your path.
2️⃣ Embrace Challenges as Learning Opportunities: Every setback is a setup for a comeback. Learn, adapt, and emerge stronger. Viewing challenges as opportunities for growth not only builds resilience but also expands your skill set, ultimately propelling you further toward your goals.
3️⃣ Network with Purpose: Surround yourself with those who inspire and challenge you. Meaningful connections can lead to unexpected opportunities. Cultivating a purposeful network opens doors to new perspectives, collaborations, and insights, accelerating your professional development.
4️⃣ Celebrate Progress, Big or Small: Acknowledge your achievements, regardless of their size. Each step is a milestone towards your larger vision. Remember, celebrating small wins fosters a positive mindset and fuels your determination to reach greater heights.
5️⃣ Stay Consistent and Resilient: Success is a journey, not a destination. Keep moving forward, even in the face of adversity. Consistency and resilience form the backbone of achievement. They allow you to weather storms, maintain momentum, and ultimately transform challenges into triumphs.

Global Spotlight: APEC Summit Takes Center Stage as U.S. and China Navigate Critical Talks
As President Joe Biden and President Xi Jinping prepare for their first in-person meeting in over a year at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Meetings 2023 in San Francisco, the world eagerly anticipates the outcomes and dynamics of their discussions. The economic rivalry between the U.S. and China is apparent, yet their interdependence is undeniable, making the global community keenly observant of the potential for cooperation and improved communication.
The implications of their interaction extend beyond economic realms, capturing the attention of nations worldwide. The aftermath of the meeting, how each side debriefs the media, and the carefully chosen words used will be closely analyzed. Stay tuned for updates on this critical diplomatic exchange.
Furthermore, U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen emphasized the pivotal role of collaborative efforts among APEC countries in a recent meeting of finance ministers. Addressing the need to boost productive capacity, facilitate climate transition financing, and create opportunities for the underprivileged, Yellen underscored the importance of fostering an 'open, dynamic, resilient, and peaceful Asia-Pacific community' in the lead-up to the 2023 U.S. hosting year.
Yellen urged APEC nations to fortify long-term economic prospects through investments in labor supply, innovation, and sustainable infrastructure. The meeting also delved into crucial issues such as accelerating net-zero emissions goals, developing carbon markets, and ensuring responsible digital asset development.
Stay tuned!

👟 Talk about an audience with a stellar shoe game!
😉 I had to dive feetfirst when envisioning this event and made sure to kick off my conversation with Duncan Scott, the Senior Vice President of Strategic Sourcing and Quality at New Balance. This time, we brought the discussion right onto campus.
A big shoutout to the Drucker School of Management and the Career Professional Development Office for orchestrating this engaging discussion. It was incredible to see how this event brought together students, alumni, faculty, and staff, alongside esteemed members of the Drucker Advisory and Alumni Association Boards, Claremont City Officials, President Len Jessup, Dean David Sprott, and even some students and faculty from other Claremont Colleges.
Our discussions spanned a wide array of topics, from business management and leadership to supply chain intricacies and effective communication. Duncan's insightful wisdom, paired with his wealth of experience, struck a chord with everyone present.
💡When asked about his top management tip, Scott emphasized, "For leadership, you have to have a very clear and compelling vision for your team. And if you do that, it unites the team and sparks essential conversations about the compromises and balances necessary for success in your company or project.
"A huge shoutout to Duncan for taking the time out of his busy schedule to join us! I also want to express my heartfelt thanks to the entire ecosystem for their contributions in making this event a reality, and for showing up with such enthusiasm and support. It really does take a community effort, and I extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you. Thank you Michelle, Jill, David, Len, Jason, Mandy, Dana, Andrew, Darlene B. Debra, Ro, Priscila, Rod, Vi, Steven, Venkat, Alexis Nishant, Raymond, Katrina, Ivy, Dave, Ed, Alegria, Mounika, Warren, Silvia, Nicholas, Erika, Kristen, Bryan, and others!

👇🏾 Now, I'm curious: What's the best leadership advice you've ever received?
I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! PS: Huge thanks to NB and Duncan for ensuring I was on point with my shoe game!
