Day 9 The Influencer List: Shayle Kann

For many of you, today is likely the first "real" day of work in the New Year, so allow me to officially welcome you to the 2024 Work week (glad it's a short one!) ;-)

I'm also glad there are now over 2,000 of you who've become Valence subscribers in only the first week! 🙏

I can't thank you enough for all the support; what a fantastic start to the new year!

Welcome to Day 9 of the Valence Influencer List ~ 12 influential thinkers and entrepreneurs rewriting the climate and energy narrative in 2024. Over the last 8 days, we've highlighted influencers who have leveraged social and traditional media platforms to expand their audience, influence how we view the world, and introduce us to new ideas and people. But, we've yet to really highlight the platform that I personally learn from the most (and if you're one of my followers the it's highly likely YOU do to!) - Podcasts!

So today, we're featuring the first of two Podcasts (and Podcaster hosts) that helped elevate their host to near-legendary status in the climate & energy conversation.

🎬 Our next influencer you should be following (Ok, likely already are...) in 2024 is none other than:

Day 9: Shayle Kann

Shayle Kann is a leading voice on energy transition, and I literally mean leading "voice", as Shayle's podcast entitled Catalyst investigates the burning questions about climate tech investment and how to decarbonize the planet. It's THE podcast of reference Anytime I ask my own podcast listeners "who else do you listen to regularly?" - without fail. And with good reason. Shayle has become a go-to authority on the intersection of climate tech and finance.

It's no doubt that Shayle is an influential figure in climate tech investment, having become a seasoned investor with years and Billions in deals under his belt. Shayle is currently a partner with @Energy Impact Partners, continuing to invest in revolutionary technologies working to achieve deep decarbonization. He routinely features their portfolio companies in his Linkedin posts, but you'll find him reaching further afield in the podcast.

Shayle's commitment to climate tech is unmatched, but of that's not convincing enough for you to give them a follow in 2024, here a few other reasons why you should:

  1. Expertise: As the host of the Catalyst podcast, Shayle offers deep insights into the energy sector with prominent climate tech experts, investors, executives, and researchers. These conversations range from the cost of clean energy to policies surrounding it to how AI is contributing to climate solutions. I highly encourage you to listen to Catalyst if you want a great resource for climate tech info!

  2. Communication: Shayle has a knack for engaging with their audience and sparking interesting discussions. With over 7K followers on LinkedIn and over 24K on X (FKA Twitter), Shayle knows how to capture their audience's attention with just a few sentences in one post. Not only that, Shayle sparks tons of reactions and conversations surrounding climate tech, encouraging others to chime in and have discussions about climate and energy solutions.

  3. Influence: Catalyst is widely listened to and has a significant impact on the climate tech and energy sector. Catalyst is a co-production of Latitude Media and Canary Media, two major media outlets assisting those in the industry by providing the latest news and info on climate change and energy. These combining efforts helped launch this weekly show into the stratosphere, and tens of thousands of us are grateful for it.

Shayle Kann is truly a force in climate finance and with years of experience investing and advocating for decarbonization, he is rightly recognized as an influential figure for climate tech and energy. If that is something you are searching for in 2024, give Shayle Kann a follow on LinkedIn and/or X and subscribe to Catalyst!

And if you aren't already subscribed to Valence, make sure you subscribe today! We've only got three more influencers on our Influencer List, so hit the 🛎️ so you don't miss out on wo we feature next, plus after this series, we'll be discussing how storytelling can help uplift your brand and the energy industry as a whole, so stay tuned ✅
