Create a Mistake Prevention Bonus Pool

Brainstorm with your team about the financial and time implications related to mistakes made within your company. Conducting this exercise will create more awareness around the true cost and negative impact associated with internal mistakes. First calculate or estimate the total cost within a previous timeframe. Then allot a percentage of this total to fund a Mistake Prevention Bonus Pool. The pot gets smaller when mistakes are made. At the end of the agreed upon time period, pay out bonuses from the pool to reward conscientiousness. The fewer the mistakes, the larger the pool. This quality-driven approach encourages teamwork and accountability.
