A CRAZY ENTREPRENEUR EXPERIENCE : STARTUP BUS 2016

Startup - WHAT ?

So in September I was on the startup bus journey.

If you don't know what Startup Bus is, here's a quick recap : 72 hours to build a startup from scratch, with complete strangers, in a bus riding through Europe (more than 1500km!).

The global  feeling when I get back to work : It's seemed like everyone was going in slow-motion. When you see all you can do in 72 hours, you're thinking too fast, so I needed to adapt a bit even if I'm still pushing everything upfront inside the company ;-)

Check out the aftermovie !

So one month later, what's left ?

Well, tree mains things are still resonate in my head :

1) PITCH BITCH

Pitch in the morning, pitch to your grandma, pitch to your colleague, pitch to your cat, just don't stop pitching ! I thought that pitching was about convincing people to buy your idea but actually it's way more than that, it's the first impression that you can give anytime to anyone and it's also the time where you can get feedback. And if you think lean, you basically start pitching as you soon as you get your idea enough clear. Also, it takes time to be able to deliver a good "content" in your pitch, but it takes even more time to "deliver" that content correctly. The way you speak, the way you stand takes also much work !

2) CLEAR VISION, CLEAR PRODUCT :

My team on the startup bus had an huge problem definition, and a large range of customers. It's difficult to move quickly and forward if you haven't target precisely your problem/customers. Sometimes, it takes time for an idea to be mature but don't overthink too much, just start pitching b****. The interaction that you will get with outside eye will for sure help you to put the pieces together.

3) SHOW ME YOUR DEMO !

A good selling pitch is nice but someone is probably already working on your idea, so what's makes you better than anyone ? Well then you need to show what you really got ! I notice that in a world of web app and tech startup, having a working demo is critical if you want some credit in your speech. I'm half business, half tech and I definitely will spend more time on the tech side to be able to prototype idea quickly. Having a great idea is meaningless if you can't make it true right ?

Talking about tech, what's up ?

  • Chatbot
  • AR/VR
  • Blockchain

so Mehdi, when are you going to show me your demo ?

...OK I'LL GET BACK TO WORK.
